Charlie’s is another clear case of a dog much more likely to be guarding – or protecting – when he’s already stirred up. This is evident by how his behaviour is variable.
Now the dog has learned that if he doesn’t want to be approached or touched, he can drive the person away by either growling, or snapping.

If he’s lying down, Chester may growl when they touch him. He attacked their other greyhound when he suddenly disturbed him. This makes their owners very worried and unhappy.
