First time dog owners, they have taken advice from a so-called trainer/behaviourist who gave dreadful advice. The trainer advocated things like teaching him impulse control by putting his food down and as soon as Basil goes for it, jerking him back and shouting Leave It.

How cruel and pointless is that!
