Bonnie, a six-year-old Labrador, had developed a strong reluctance to get into the lady’s car. While she would happily jump into the cars belonging to the man or daughter in the household, she outright refused to get into the lady’s car.
Baxter whines when the lady goes up the stairs. He whines when they are on the phone. He whines and screams in the car. Baxter whines constantly for attention.

Interestingly she is okay getting into the man’s car and the daughter’s, but she won’t get into the lady’s car.
From my questions it seems this is not to do with the vehicle itself, but the human.
Many humans feel it’s the right thing to do to play wildly exciting games (‘but the dogs love it’) or give manic greetings to dogs. They don’t understand that they may be pumping them up to such a degree that something eventually will have to give. It’s hard to convince people that it’s kinder to wait and respond to the dogs only when they are reasonably calm.
But he refuses to get into the car to come home.
It is when they want to come home that the real problems start. Bruno is having such fun. He is tired and exhilarated. He simply refuses to get into the car and he is now a heavy dog.
Consequently other dog walkers have to help to wrestle him into the car.
