Is this what we call biting?

How does one really define biting? Is it engagement of teeth or is it to do with the intent behind the engagement of teeth?

From what I had been told on the phone I was going to a dog that repeatedly bit people, especially the man, and I was expecting an aggressive dog.

Discipline – is it good or bad?

The problem with trying to ‘discipline’ an unruly dog is that it’s all about preventing the dog from doing unwanted things in a ‘disciplinarian’ sort of way which implies being confrontational. A confrontational approach can generate an aggressive response in a strong-minded dog. ‘Discipline’ does not teach the desired, other, preferred behaviours.

Beagle’s Unpredictable Barking at Dogs

Harvey has had extensive training before he fell ill, but it simply did not address this problem. However well trained he is, ‘training’ alone can’t alter how a dog feels inside which causes barking at other dogs. He probably feels threatened and wary, maybe grumpy.
