Teaching Puppy. Pre-empting Future Problems.

Teaching puppy is about a lot more than ‘sit’ and toilet training.

Teaching puppy is about showing her what to do.

That sounds obvious really, but teaching puppy seems mostly about things we don‘t want her to do!

Teaching puppy with positive methodsA puppy novice can soon feel bogged down by a new puppy – most particularly by her teeth.

Little Millie is a ten-week-old Cocker Spaniel puppy.  Something had happened very early in her life and she had to have an eye removed.

She is the sweetest, softest little thing much of the time. At other times, like all puppies, she is like a small missile with sharp teeth at the front end.

Little Sugar is extremely jumpy.

He seems also to be on constant protection duty – seemingly guarding both himself and the lady and gentleman too.

This is scary for the tiny dog, so it’s a mixture of emotions.

Imagine being so small and being approached by a tall, looming human with feet almost as big as yourself!

It’s little wonder he attacks and bites shoes.

Manic Evenings. Jumps and Bites. Grabs Cushions. Pants

build up of arousal and manic eveningsThey do all they can for Winston but his behaviour is a challenge for the young couple – as it would be for most people. They simply can’t cope with his manic evenings.

They have had the one-year-old English Bulldog for under two months and they are at their wits’ end with him. It’s ruining their life to the extent that the gentleman admits to not wanting to come home in the evening. (more…)
