Theo Stewart

obsessive compulsive

Obsessed with balls and chasing sticks.

It is sometimes hard to determine whether changes in a re-homed dog’s behaviour after a couple of weeks or so is due to settling in and old traits resurfacing, or to something the new people themselves are doing. Probably a mix of both. They have had delightful two-year-old DJ for Read more…

Mystery barking. Why does Vinny bark?

The most annoying barking is while the lady is on the phone, trying to work.

He whines. How can they stop their dog’s constant whining?

Baxter whines when the lady goes up the stairs. He whines when they are on the phone. He whines and screams in the car. Baxter whines constantly for attention.

How can they stop the whining?
This has several approaches.

barking

Giving her freedom of choice. She freezes.

Their current approach to her freezing on walks clearly isn’t working which, in itself, is a reason for doing things differently. Giving her choice.

bangs

Scared of bangs. His world erupted

Until last year, where he was alert to bangs when out on walks, he could cope. Then, late November, they were out in the garden for his final toilet trip at about 10pm, and his world erupted.

Sprocker charges, barking, when the young girl enters the room

As she appears in the doorway, he charges at the young girl, barking. It begins when four-year-old Sprocker Austin hears the ten-year-old daughter moving about upstairs. As she appears in the doorway, he charges at her. The poor kid is scared. He charges, barks and jumps at her, mouth open. Read more…
